I am very proud of the students who were involved in this concert. Everyone did a great job and cooperated wonderfully. It is a privilege to work with you all! Here is some video to enjoy. Congratulations on a great concert! You all did a lot of hard work, and it paid off! Wonderful! I am very excited to work on some new music, and to keep hearing you grow as musicians. Our Concert is coming up on DECEMBER 10th at Hillside! Make sure your child is practicing at home enough to be prepared for our concert. They need to work on all of their songs, and practice small sections until perfect, then move on. Please remind your student to practice at least 4 days a week at home.
There is detailed concert information in every Newsletter from Hillside, as well as on the concert tab. ALL orchestra students are expected to attend. Please email Mrs. Misco with any questions. Thanks for your support!!! On October 16th- the Utah Symphony will perform for Hillside! There will be a meet and greet between shows that only 34 students may attend. 17 will be from band and 17 from Orchestra.
Contest:
What is a meet and greet? The musicians and students will meet in an informal setting (choir room) to hang out and chat. Ask your questions to any of the musicians! This is not a “formal, stand up in front of people” thing. This is a mill around and chat type of experience. Lots of fun and great opportunity! It's been fun seeing many of you again, as well as meeting several new students. I know we are going to have a great year!
Reminders: Practice charts are due every Wednesday. Orchestra II started last week (Aug 28th) and Orchestra I will begin on Sept. 11th. Make sure to practice at home! Many students had trouble making a comment on the blog. I am trying to resolve the issue, so don't worry if you were unable to leave a comment at this time. T-shirts! Orchestra II please fill out the t-shirt size form ASAP. $8.00 per shirt is due by the end of September. I am excited for the new school year with all of you! We have two great groups, and I know we will have some fun and learn a lot this year. Your first assignment will be easy. This will make sure I know you have gone to our web page, which it incredibly important. You will fill out your practice chart here, find concert information here, and other important dates and information.
assignment #1- 1. visit HillsideOrchestra.weebly.com 2. read this post 3. comment below with at least your first and last name (you can add a comment if you would like!) 4. Get an easy A! If you do not have computer access, I will give you an alternative to complete this assignment and you may use paper practice charts. I have students complete online practice charts rather than paper for good reasons; to try to save some paper, to help prevent loss of practice charts and it is much faster to input online charts than paper. IF YOU HAVE COMPUTER ACCESS, please turn in the online chart!!! Do not just do a paper chart because you forgot. Set a reminder on your phone (if you have one) to turn it in every Wednesday. OR write a big note and hang it up somewhere you look every day. Please comment below before 23rd to get your credit. Late comments will only receive 50% What a wondeful year with all of you! I am always amazed and astounded by the amount of growth you all make in just one year. 7th graders, I am looking forward to another great year! 8th graders.....I will miss you so much! I hope you visit. I hope you look back at your time here and have fond memories. Just know, I am proud of you. I wish you the very best, and I know you will have a bright future. Go Hillside!!!!!
