On April 11th - I will be auditioning vocalists for "My Shot" from Hamilton! You may get the part and words from Mrs. Misco
You MUST be available to perform on May 8th, and must be able to come in to my 1st period class 3 or 4 times before the concert to rehearse. I may choose 2 vocalists to split the part if we have enough talented people to choose from. You need to be very confident and able to stay on beat no matter what! Girls and boys are welcome to audition. Rehearsal recording- My Shot (click here) Here is a great article about the benefits of playing an instrument. Please share!

We can help you out! Girls - Black skirt or pants (not jeans) and a white or black dress top (no t-shirts) OR a black or black and white dress. All items must meet school dress code, so no short skirts or dresses, NO bare midriffs or spaghetti straps. Shoes should be neutral colored dress shoes. Boys- Black or very dark grey pants (not jeans) and a black or white cress top -button up or polo shirt (not t-shirt) We have many white button up shirts in almost new condition if you need one. Both classes are doing a great job, so keep up the good practice! have a fun Fall Break! Today marks our first midterm. (already!) Many students have not turned in one or more practice charts, and have seen their grade suffer as a result. Please help them remember to turn it in EVERY Wednesday. They can set a reminder in their phone, write it in their planner or on the home calendar.
Our parent teacher conferences are on Tues and Thurs, September 26 and 28. I have an unavoidable conflict on Tuesday with my own children, and I need to leave at 5:30pm. I will be here until 7:00pm on Thursday, so if you need to come in later I will be there. You can also email me or call if that is easier. Thanks! Remind your child to practice at home! Thank you for your support! Every year, Orchestra II competes in a fun competition called Music in the Parks. I would love to have every member of Orchestra II attend this event! Please let me know if you have any questions, and please get the sign up form completed as soon as possible.
T-SHIRTS - we are voting on an all new t-shirt for this year. I anticipate them being $8.00, and will let you know by September 10 if they end a bit more. (hopefully not!) The students requested a softer t-shirt, which may be a little more. I think they will end up being great shirts this year! T-shirt money will be due by September 15th, if possible. If you need assistance, please let me know. Thanks! -Mrs. Misco It has been great to see you all this week, and thanks for hanging in there while we take care of the necessary paperwork for Orchestra! It will be an awesome year, and I can already tell that you will be hard working and supportive groups. Off we go! I hope you are all having a great summer! You will each be assigned a group to check off at the awards and at the fountain, other than that you can ride what you like and feel free to have fun! With our concert approaching on May 16th, we have been talking about why what most think of as an "A" is not enough. Here is a great video about why "A" is not enough when it comes to music! Remember to practice at home extra the next 2 weeks!!!! The Orchestra II did an amazing job at festival! They received a Superior rating, and I am very proud of their hard work. Keep it up because May is a busy month! We will perform May16th at Hillside, May 20th at Music in the Parks/Lagoon and also for the student body during a May assembly. Open House at Hillside - Orchestra II, January 19th -report 7:10pm, perform at 7:30pm, wear class t-shirt (if you are attending the meeting at Highland, come right over after....hurry!!) Highland High concert- January 26th at Highland. All orchestra classes mandatory! Concert black and white. Be in warm up rooms by 6:30 to tune. Performance at 7:00pm. Please be on time to school. We have had the first problem with excessive tardies in Orchestra in my 7 years here. Every day, there are 2 or more students tardy. Please be on time, as it is very disruptive to have students constantly late. Also, you miss tuning and expect me to take extra time for you. Get up earlier, and get to class! High school starts earlier, so get used to it now...... Due to high demand, the music department will be performing for the students at Hillside this Friday, the 23rd!
Orchestra II will perform, as well as band II and choir. Students can wear ugly sweaters, holiday shirts or just red or green. Santa hats and reindeer antlers can be worn on stage, as well. This will be a fun performance for all! Both Orchestras did a great job last night, and I was very proud of all of you. Everyone I spoke to was so impressed, and so was I! Your hard work paid off, so let's keep practicing and getting even better. Here are a few photos and video further down. See more videos on my Youtube channel! |
